A United Church of Christ

"Intercession is a concrete expression of the social dimension of prayer. It includes our concerns for other persons, communities, nations, the earth, and our fellow creatures… The prayers of committed people become part of the cosmic reality God has to work with. God can use them to 'tip the balance' and change the shape of distorted realities in our world."

At Union Church anyone is welcome to raise a brief prayer concern in church on behalf of any person(s) or situation of special concern to them. We are careful to avoid violating someone’s confidentiality or to promote partisan causes.

If someone is uncomfortable speaking in church, they may alert the minister ahead of time. To insure that information posted on the website prayer concerns list is accurate, we use the pink prayer concern request forms to post and update the file.

We are invited to respond to what we hear in church or read on the website through our personal prayers, a note or card, visit, etc. as the spirit moves us.

The Web site prayer concerns list is reviewed weekly. Posted one-time prayer concerns for persons unknown to the congregation are maintained for 3-4 weeks unless further news is provided.
