I am there in the midst of them."

Sunday Worship

Sunday worship at Union Congregational United Church of Christ provides a multi-generational connection to God's Holy Spirit living in our midst.  This is the focal point of our faith community and how most people first find their way into the church.  We pray that all who worship with us will be drawn closer to God, find strength and meaning for their lives, and discover mutually supportive friendships in Christ.

Our minister, Rev. Dr. Dana Mann is dedicated to open hearted, thoughtful, relevant messages that apply our faith traditions and scriptures to today's world.  An "open communion," to which all are invited, is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month.

We are blessed to have "four generations" worshipping together.  We share a variety of music styles and welcome guest artists and groups during the year.  The Senior Choir sings three Sundays a month, usually at the 10:45 service.  The Choristers (Children's Choir) and the adult Hand bell Choir each participate once a month.

We provide children's activity bags, books, and scripture-related children's bulletins.  There is a special time for children during each service.  We want our children to feel welcome.  Child care is available in the nursery for the younger children.

Large print bulletins are available from the ushers.  An elevator provides wheel-chair accessibility to all levels of our facility including restrooms with full access and infant changing tables.

Senior Choir

Senior Choir sings nearly every Sunday from September through May at the 10:45am worship service. Choir is for everyone ages 16 and up.  Our choir director, Amy McNabb, selects music which draws us together, inspires us, and supports the Sunday message and theme. If you've always thought you'd like to be part of an artistic community that includes great music, strong direction, and warm community, come to Senior Choir rehearsal on Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM September through May. Come join us, we've got a robe waiting for you.  (And the choir has good parties too.) Contact Amy McNabb with any questions (763) 441-1203.

Hand Bell Choir

The Handbell Choir performs on a three-octave set of Schulmerich English Handbells, as well as a three-octave set of Schulmerich Handchimes.  Marilyn Olson conducts a dedicated and musically talented Hand Bell Choir which practices on Wednesday evenings September through May from 5:45-7:00 PM and typically plays once a month in worship September through May.  It has become an annual event for "the bells" to play for "Music Sunday in December, and to ring every year of Palm Sunday. The group enjoys fellowship together while they rehearse and share inspirational hand bell music. If you are interested in becoming a bell ringer, contact Marilyn Olson, the Handbell Director! Choristers (Children's Choir)

Union Congregational UCC has a long tradition of having an energetic and playful children's choir for grades 3 to 7.  The Choristers meet on Wednesday nights from September through May from 6:00 - 7:00 PM.  The Choristers participate in worship services about once a month September through May.  Their annual cantata is an inspiration for all ages and they share fellowship events throughout the year.  The Choral Director selects upbeat music that compliments the different talents and energies of the choir while teaching the story of our faith through song and a variety of instruments. Contact Amy McNabb for more information: (763) 441-1203.

Throughout the entire year, different musicians in the church and throughout the community offer special music during worship. The Music and Arts Committee frequently schedules special music including professional bands and choirs such as CODA, Indande Duo and the Land of Lakes Choirboys.
